Pousada de Belmonte

This historic building is situated in the mountain region of the Serra da Estrela which is approximately half way between the towns of Covilhã and Guarda. The Pousada was originally the ruined Convento de Nossa Senhora de Esperança and visitors will find within its grounds both a preserved 13th Century Chapel and an amphitheatre. The nearby town is famous as being the birthplace of Pedro Álvares Cabral the famous explorer who is claimed to have found Brazil. There are twenty three rooms and one suite with a restaurant and bar. For the convenience of guests there is a swimming pool and we also recommend you consider a visit to the Castle of Belmonte.

The Pousada is approximately 227 kms from Porto Airport.

By Car (from Lisbon):
- Take the A1 highway, and exit to the A23 at Torres Novas, until you reach the exit for Belmonte.
- Once in the centre of the village of Belmonte, follow the signs that indicate the way to the Pousada.
By Car (from Porto):
- Upon leaving Porto, take the A1 highway towards the South.
- At Albergaria, take the A25 towards Guarda, then at the A23 exit for Belmonte/Manteigas.
- Once in the centre of the village of Belmonte, follow the signs that indicate the way to the Pousada

All children from 2 to 12 years are charged 15 % of the room stay per night and person for extra beds.
One older child or adult is charged 30 % of the room stay per night and person in an extra bed.
